Do You Qualify for a Free or Reduced-Price Meal?
We understand the financial challenges that many families face today. If you feel you may qualify for meals free of charge or at a reduced rate, please complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application and return it to your school as soon as possible. Applications are available in multiple languages in our school office or on the Nutrition Services website at: http://www.twinriversusd.org/depts/nutrition/
Filling out and returning a meal application not only provides YOU with the benefit of saving money, but the pool of statistical results determines the level of funding your SCHOOL receives for many of its programs.
MORE QUALIFYING APPLICATIONS = MORE SCHOOL $$$$$
Even if you don't think you qualify, we urge you to submit a meal application.
Please help us avoid teacher lay-offs and further cuts to programs and services.
It only takes a minute to fill out the application and it doesn't cost a thing!
After your application is submitted, it will be reviewed and eligibility will be determined. Please remember that all meals consumed prior to your application being approved must be paid for. If you do not receive notification of our decision in the mail within 15 days of your submission, please call the Nutrition Services office at 566-1600 ext 50511.

Did you Know???
School cafeterias across the nation are mandated to receive two health inspections per year. The purpose of these inspections is to ensure that our facilities and workers are complying with safety and sanitation requirements - from checking food temperatures to wearing gloves.
The Sacramento County Environmental Health Department does an excellent job at making sure this mandate is met. Every permitted cafeteria in the Twin Rivers School District has received their required number of inspections with a 100% "PASS" rate.
But we don't stop there, we self-inspect our sites on a regular basis. Every kitchen has at least one staff member that has taken a food handlers course and earned a food safety certificate. Our Field Supervisors and Management staff are constantly visiting our cafeterias to ensure our staff is following safe food handling practices. We have developed and initiated a "Site Standard" inspection to ensure that every area of food safety in our cafeterias are checked.
This year eleven of our district cafeterias were awarded the Food Facility Award of Excellence from the Environmental Health Department of Sacramento.
